What You Need to Know

Living Arrangements

  • When finding suitable accommodation, you may be required to provide a share code to prove your right to reside in a property.

  • The landlord may ask to see your permission to stay/visa.

  • They will use your BRP details to check you are legally entitled to rent accommodation in the UK.

  • You will find it helpful to share accommodation with those you know, such as a house with other students, where you can share the rent amongst yourselves to help with the costs and maintenance.

  • Always have a written tenancy agreement.

As a full-time student, you may be eligible for a discount for council tax. For more help and information, please visit: gov.uk/council-tax/discounts-for-full-time-students

Student Testimonial

1. Have at least a minimum £7,000 in your account. If you can’t afford it then don’t come here to the UK.

2. If you are earning good in India for example 20,000 Rupees per month then do not come to the UK. If you think 20,000 Rupees in India is nothing then make sure you keep in mind you can earn 1 lac and 2 lac – but 80% money you will use to cover expenses in the UK. So you will be saving the same amount.

3. Accommodation – I have to live according to the owner. Make sure you look near the university or find University near accommodation to save on travel costs.
